As a model and goody-maker to the stars, Dineen spent eighteen years submersed in the Hollywood culture. In She Sins at Midnight, her first chick lit book, she pokes fun at Hollywood’s questionable morality while creating a thrill-ride journey for her heroine, size 12 Hollywood assistant, Lila Montgomery.
Whitney modeled through her twenties and thirties for the famed Ford Modeling Agency. When she wasn’t on set for clients like Danskin, Macy's, Liz Clairborne, and Lane Bryant, she was in the kitchen baking delights for celebrated clients like Steven Spielberg, Jerry Bruckheimer, and Kirstie Alley.
Whitney confesses that while she loved her years in Los Angeles, she did not love the pressure for women to achieve Hollywood’s weight conscious idea of perfection. Dineen laughs, “For most of us, size 0 or 2 is only normal if you have been dead for several years. The unrealistic idea of beauty imposed on young women from the Hollywood Machine is total nonsense.” With two young daughters of her own, Whitney is dedicated to raising her children with a healthy body image, regardless of the insane pressures manufactured by the media.

Dineen and her actor-husband, Jimmy Dineen, left Los Angeles to raise their daughters in rural Oregon. “We want to give them the best kind of upbringing we can. For us, that means teaching them the important things in life, like how to raise chickens and organic vegetables, not how to be a size 0 with a perfect year-round wrinkle free tan.”
