Wilshire Law Firm Supports LA Hit-And-Run Victims as They Set Out to 'Finish the Ride'
Van Nuys, CA (PRWEB) December 16, 2016 -- As part of a long-term effort to spread awareness of hit-and-run accidents and to make the streets safer for everyone, SAFE and Wilshire Law Firm hosted the Finish the Ride Holiday Challenge.
The Holiday Challenge featured the “Wilshire Law Firm” Rides, which covered the course of the Valley ranging from a relatively brisk 10 miles up to an invigorating 58 Mile Ride. All events were fully supported with pit stops, water stations, t-shirts, goodie bags, finishing medals and a free post ride expo that included live music and great prizes. Additionally, there was a variety of activities for kids of all ages and their families.
Hundreds of athletes of all skill levels and abilities (including brave amputees) participated in the event – running, walking, skateboarding, rollerblading, and cycling for a good cause. All proceeds from this event will benefit SAFE, a non-profit organization dedicated to ending hit-and-run crimes, preventing traffic fatalities, and providing free assistance to those who have been impacted by the nearly 52,000 traumatic traffic collisions in LA County each year.
Avid bicyclist and founder of SAFE, Damian Kevitt, believes Finish the Ride isn’t just a series of athletic events, but a movement to stop the scourge of hit-and-run accidents and make the streets safer for everyone. Many participants of Finish the Ride, including Damian, have themselves been seriously injured or lost a loved one in a hit-and-run accident. Though it is their primary objective to raise awareness of this epidemic, they also ride to express courage and resiliency in the face of tragedy.
