Wimbledon Health Partners Brings Renowned Radiologist on Board to Support Growth of Diagnostic Testing Program
Boca Raton, FL (PRWEB) January 20, 2016 -- Wimbledon Health Partners, the industry leader in on-site diagnostic testing for physicians and athletic programs, welcomes board certified radiologist Yvette Bailey, M.D. as Radiology Medical Director. Dr. Bailey completed her diagnostic radiology residencies at the Medical College of Pennsylvania and Columbia University/St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital, her interventional radiology fellowship at Emory University Hospital, and her neuroradiology mini fellowship at RUSH University Hospital. With more than 20 years of experience in diagnostic vascular radiology and ultrasound in the academic, private practice, and insurance industries, Dr. Bailey brings tremendous knowledge and groundbreaking methods and techniques to Wimbledon Health Partners that will allow the company to better address the cardiovascular health of athletes of high school and college age.
Dr. Bailey leads the charge in expanding Wimbledon Health Partners’ revolutionary diagnostic testing model to evaluate for deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and Achilles tendinopathy, potentially dangerous vascular conditions to which competitive athletes are susceptible, according to studies published in the Journal of the American Medical Athletic Association and the Journal of Vascular Medicine. Evaluating athletes for these conditions is rapidly gaining importance as more studies point to the severity of these health issues if gone undiagnosed or untreated.
Wimbledon Health Partners’ current cardiovascular testing of student athletes focuses on early detection of asymptomatic cardiac abnormalities that can cause sudden cardiac arrest and for underlying vascular conditions using carotid artery and aortic ultrasounds and ankle-brachial index. Adding lower extremity arterial and venous ultrasounds to the testing regimen further protects student athletes from developing serious vascular issues, such as blood clots that can lead to potentially life-threatening pulmonary embolisms.
“Wimbledon Health Partners is the leader when it comes to the diagnostic testing performed on young athletes, and I look forward to using my knowledge and expertise in the vascular field to positively affect the health and safety of these athletes through early detection of the vascular conditions that could prove harmful to them, today and down the road,” stated Dr. Bailey.
A priority for Dr. Bailey will be spearheading an advisory council to keep Wimbledon Health Partners on the forefront of diagnostic testing to identify vascular and musculoskeletal conditions that can adversely affect the health and performance of young athletes or pose severe risk to their safety, both on and off the field. By bringing professional associates on board, Dr. Bailey will continue to expand understanding and knowledge of vascular conditions to ensure potentially life-saving and life-altering testing protocols are applied to each and every student tested by Wimbledon Health Partners.
