Winners of North American Passive House Network Design Awards To Be Announced October 1st 2015
Vancouver, British Columbia (PRWEB) September 03, 2015 -- The North American Passive House Network (NAPHN) has launched its Passive House Design Awards to encompass projects in Canada, the USA and Mexico. The awards aim to recognize energy efficient buildings of exceptional quality and the people who made them happen.
To enter the competition, projects must be completed, either new construction or retrofit, and be certified by the Passive House Institute or be able to demonstrate they have met the design approval stage in the certification process.
Buildings will be judged on design (30%), innovation (30%), performance (20%), and other sustainable features (20%) by a panel of four judges. The winners will be announced at the official dinner of the NAPHN15 conference and tradeshow being held in Vancouver on October 1. There will also be a People's Choice award, voted on by guests at the NAPHN15 dinner.
“Over the past year, we’ve seen so many exciting developments in Passive House design, not only with residential homes but also schools, multi-unit residential buildings and even high rise. This year’s conference seemed the perfect opportunity celebrate our talent in North America and announce the winners of the first ever North American Passive House Network Design Awards.” Ken Levenson, Co-President, NAPHN
The NAPHN15 dinner will give conference delegates an opportunity for networking and fun after a full day of presentations and panel discussions. Guest speaker and long-time Passive House advocate, Lloyd Alter of Treehugger.com, is confirmed to provide the entertainment with a talk entitled “Let’s Get Comfy”.
Conference attendees also have the opportunity to attend tours of Passive House projects in Vancouver and Whistler on Saturday, October 3rd. Those aspiring to design the award-winning projects of the future may wish to attend one of the pre-conference workshops, which include Multi-family and Large Passive House Design, Passive House Window Design and a session on the new PHPP v9 software.
All projects submitted to the NAPHN Design Awards will be showcased at the conference. Winners will be displayed on the conference and NAPHN websites, and shared via newsletters and social media. The award application form and full entry criteria can be found at http://naphn15.canphi.ca/naphn-passive-house-design-award. The application closing date is midnight (Pacific Time) on September 21st, 2015.
