Winners of the 3rd Annual MEMPC PriSim Business War Games Competition Announced
Chicago, Illinois (PRWEB) March 26, 2015 -- The results are in and the judges determined the winners of the 3rd Annual MEMPC PriSim Business War Games Competition. This year’s winners are from Firm C and are: John Taggart from Stanford, Yanping Liu from Cornell University, Bo Wang from Dartmouth, Alice Feix from Duke, Amrita Srivastava from MIT and Ajay Mathew from USC.
During the four-week, online Competition, seven cross-university teams from top engineering schools, including Northwestern University, Cornell, Dartmouth, Duke, USC, MIT, and Stanford participated in a business simulation where they acted as a management team taking over a domestic automobile company. The winning team was determined by how the competitors interacted, what new products were introduced and how these products were supported.
“Strategic management is a core competency for engineering students to master, and everything the students do during the MEMPC competition helps foster this skill and more,” said David Semb, Partner, PriSim Business War Games, Inc. and Adjunct Professor at Northwestern University. “As an industry leader in customized, computerized business simulation games, PriSim is proud of its integral role in the Competition as it helps instill the skills for engineering students to be successful in their future careers. All of the students put forth a strong effort this year and should be proud.”
Designed to help engineering students forge business partnerships with employers, potential job candidates, students, faculty, and to provide alumni networking opportunities, this Competition was part of an overall initiative of the Master of Engineering Management Programs Consortium (MEMPC) to raise awareness for the Master of Engineering Management (MEM) degree.
The MEMPC PriSim Business War Games Competition started with each team conducting an analysis of the business environment and then articulating the vision and mission of the organization. Each company began the simulation with three vehicles and then decided how best to improve their performance and potentially enter new market segments that offered opportunities for growth.
“It was a great opportunity to participate in the MEMPC PriSim Business War Games Competition,” said Luke Rafla-Yuan, Cornell University. “The activity gave me valuable experience working with a virtual team, which is a useful skill in today’s industry. It also allowed me to practice my decision making skills and collaborate with a team to define and work towards goals.”
