Winterthur Sets Annual Fundraising Record by Exceeding $12 Million
Wilmington, Delaware (PRWEB) July 07, 2015 -- Winterthur Museum, Garden & Library has set an annual fundraising record. An institution-wide effort over the past fiscal year has allowed Winterthur to surpass the $12 million fundraising mark for the first time in Winterthur’s history.
“It is with great thanks and pride that we share this exciting news,” said Dr. David P. Roselle, Director of Winterthur. “I hope everyone will take heart in the number and generosity of our friends, including many Winterthur employees, who contributed. The hard work and dedication of our staff and the volunteers make these goals reachable.”
Winterthur received more than 12,000 gifts from nearly 11,000 donors. Significant gifts to Winterthur’s endowment through the Campaign for Winterthur helped in achieving this record.
The gifts will be used for priority initiatives across the institution including key endowments, exhibitions, collections acquisitions as well as various capital projects and general operating funds.
Winterthur—known worldwide for its preeminent collection of American decorative arts, naturalistic gardens, and research library for the study of American art and material culture—offers a variety of tours, exhibitions, programs, and activities throughout the year. General admission includes a tour of some of the most notable spaces in the 175-room house as well as access to the Winterthur Garden and Galleries, special exhibitions, a narrated tram tour (weather permitting), the Campbell Collection of Soup Tureens, and the Enchanted Woods children’s garden.
