LOS ANGELES (PRWEB) September 16, 2014 -- Kicking off the 2014-2015 academic year, Woodbury University today announced three key faculty appointments in the newly AACSB-accredited School of Business: Dr. Xinmei (Lucy) Xie in Accounting, Dr. Adam Wood in Management, and Keith Nishida in Fashion Marketing.
“We have strengthened the School with three dynamic additions to our faculty team,” said Andre van Niekerk, dean of the School of Business. “Each brings subject matter expertise and a passion for teaching, and each values the role of mentorship and guidance. These appointments are in line with our pledge to the Woodbury community to offer a business education program that is among the best anywhere. We’re committed to maintaining a high-quality teaching environment, innovative programming, and active engagement with industry. Lucy, Adam and Keith join a department that truly is world class. ”
In May, Woodbury’s School of Business was among 12 international and four American business schools to earn accreditation from AACSB International for 2014, joining 713 institutions of higher learning in 47 countries and territories around the world that have successfully completed the multi-year internal review, evaluation and improvement process. AACSB accreditation represents the highest achievement for an educational institution that awards business degrees, a status conferred on less than 5 percent of all business programs worldwide.
o Joining the Accounting Department is Xinmei (Lucy) Xie, who earned a PhD in Accounting from the University of Texas at Dallas. Prior to joining Woodbury, Dr. Xie taught at California State University Dominguez Hills. Two of her research papers were recently published in the Journal of International Finance & Economics (JIFE, 2013). She has taught courses in Financial Accounting, Managerial Accounting, Intermediate Accounting, Cost Accounting, Intermediate Cost Management, and Auditing. Dr. Xie also brings to the department valuable insights in assessment, curriculum and student organization.
o An expert in team performance, Adam Wood earned his PhD. in Management from the University of Southern California, with a specialization in Organizational Behavior. Dr. Wood’s research interests concern the areas of emotions, interpersonal perception, and decision making. Using multi-method designs, the field examines individual, dyadic, and organizational determinants and benefits of emotion regulation and recognition. In addition to his global consulting experience in leadership development training, Dr. Wood has several years of industry experience as a management and technology consultant in both the U.S. and Europe, serving with Visa U.S.A., Sybase, FedEx and American Management Systems, Inc.
o Currently finishing his PhD. in Design & Human Environment at Oregon State University -- with a concentration in Fashion Communication, New Media and Merchandising -- Keith Nishida joins the growing Fashion Marketing Department. Prior to Woodbury, Nishida focused his teaching and research on consumer behavior and fashion communication as they relate to new digital media, product development, and consumer cultures. His dissertation research explores how fashion innovation is disseminated through social media -- in particular, fashion blogs and Instagram. He has developed and taught courses in trend forecasting, product marketing/development, visual merchandising, and fashion styling.
