With USC Football Staff Still Unclear NFL Coach Says John Baxter Is What’s Missing In College Football
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) December 18, 2013 -- USC Trojans Coach John Baxter represents everything that the NCAA loves to advertise.
“There are over 360,000 NCAA student-athletes, and just about all of us are going pro in something other than sports…” has been repeated on multiple occasions by NCAA ad campaigns.
While it sounds great, we know that all participants don't live up to what the statement implies.
This Coach is one of the few who truly lives up to that standard. According to Atlanta Falcons Coach Pat Hill, “John is more than a great football coach. He is a mentor who prepares players for life after college football. Because that is when everything really begins.”
Whether it is helping recruits put a plan in place to become eligible through the NCAA Clearinghouse, or offering help to write resumes and do mock interviews with upperclassmen, Coach Baxter’s effort to prepare young people never stops.
In an interview with Laura Okmin at Fox Sports, Coach Baxter put it like this, “these five years are going to shape the next 50, and the greatest gift we can give our athletes is the skills and ability to manage their own life…And we’ll do part of that through football.”
It’s that methodology, the one where a Coach puts an intentional plan in place to ensure that his athletes are competitors in all areas of their life, that former Fresno State Pat Hill says, “is missing in college football. No one prepares college players the way he does.”
Inevitably, testimonies like this, and the many others that can be found at Coach John Baxter’s Facebook page leaves us to wonder. After having such a positive impact at Fresno State and USC, where will John Baxter end up in 2014?
