Women's Running Half Marathon and ATRS Get Ready to Rock, Run and Recycle in Scottsdale on Sunday November, 3, 2013
Scottsdale, AZ (PRWEB) October 29, 2013 -- Participants at the Women's Running Half Marathon and 5K Race in Scottsdale, AZ now have one more way to give back when they hit the streets early on Sunday morning, November 3, 2013.
Race participants are encouraged to bring a bag of running gear and shoes to the Start Line at downtown Scottsdale on East Main Street for recycling. Distinctive ATRS trucks and volunteers in bright green tees will collect unused apples, bananas, packaged oatmeal bars, pretzels and other perishables from the Finish Line, and deliver them to Weldon House in Phoenix. Any unused event tees and medals will be recycled with the proceeds to benefit the State’s only facility for mothers to live in recovery with their children.
Scottsdale, Phoenix and Tempe residents can recycle unwanted clothes, shoes, toys and household textiles to support Weldon House all year round simply by calling the 24-Hour Hotline with your address or zip code at 1-866-900-9308.
“It’s an honor for us to volunteer at these events,” says Robbie Milner, Market Manager for ATRS Arizona. “Our partnership with The Competitor Group keeps textiles out of Arizona landfills, helps our local charities and does something great for the planet. Knowing we help the residents at Weldon House and their kids brings us joy.”
