Wonderhood Launches Successful Kickstarter Campaign: Building Toys for Girls Who Break the Mold
New York, NY (PRWEB) June 21, 2016 -- Wonderhood, a new company developing creative building toys for girls, launched its first line of products to great success on Kickstarter on June 16. After reaching its $25,000 goal in just over 24 hours, Wonderhood is now pursuing its stretch goal of $50,000 and continues to gain popularity and supporters.
The company was founded by two “Moms on a Mission” and fellow Columbia Business School graduates, Andrea Wenner Hollander and Solange Schipani. Inspired by their own daughters, and disappointed with traditional toys marketed for girls, their vision is to create more choice in play and help girls break through barriers by developing critical STEM skills early on (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math).
Wonderhood building toys go beyond stereotypes, engaging girls' creative and scientific sides. Their inventive, open-ended design develops hands-on problem-solving and STEM skills such as spatial reasoning. The beautifully illustrated graphic panels and included figurines inspire story-telling and imaginative play. Just as importantly, Wonderhood toys feature positive female lead characters that use STEM in their everyday lives and have big dreams.
The company’s first product line includes two unique, themed building sets: Wonderhood Grand Hotel and Wonderhood Corner Shops. Eventually, the company will roll out a complete set of Wonderhood places so that girls can build and play in their world, their way.

Aside from raising critical funding for our first manufacturing run, we’ll be able to raise awareness of our company and get feedback on our products,” said Andrea Wenner Hollander, Co-Founder of Wonderhood.

The founders have already invested significantly in the company and will use the Kickstarter funding towards their initial manufacturing run and new product development. Wonderhood toys will make their debut into the wider retail market in time for the 2016 holiday season.
