World Allergy Week 2016 Explores How Climate Changes Affect Pollen and Mold Allergies

Milwaukee, Wisconsin (PRWEB) April 03, 2016 -- Experts from around the world will present information and answer questions about aeroallergens in their regions during a live webinar on “Pollen Allergy in a Changing Global Climate” beginning at 9:00 a.m. EDT (New York) on Tuesday, 5 April 2016. The complementary program of the World Allergy Organization (WAO) is targeted to specialists in allergy and immunology, other clinicians and healthcare practitioners who see patients with pollen or mold allergy, and patient advocacy groups.

Dr Paul Greenberger, Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago, will moderate the program as well as present.

Joining Dr Greenberger will be Dr Richard Weber, University of Colorado at Denver, School of Medicine; Dr Nelson Rosário Filho, Federal University of Parana, Curitaba, Brazil; Dr Menachem Rottem, Emek Medical Center, Afula, Israel; Dr Elopy Sibanda, University of Zimbabwe College of Health Sciences, Harare, Zimbabwe; Dr Charles S. Barnes, University of Missouri at Kansas City, School of Medicine; Dr Lorenzo Cecchi, University of Florence, Interdepartmental Centre of Bioclimatology; and Dr Wisuwat Songnuan, Mahidol University, Department of Plant Scientist, Bangkok, Thailand.

“With the lengthening of pollen allergy seasons we are seeing an increase in pollen in the air from more pollen production and therefore an increased intensity of aeroallergen exposures. This will continue to be a concern as temperatures rise and exposures increase,” according to Dr Mario Sánchez-Borges, President of the World Allergy Organization, of Centro Medico Docente La Trinidad, Caracas, Venezuela.

“It is optimal for pollen and all allergy sufferers to receive an accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment. Allergy specialists have the professional expertise to help pinpoint and confirm the allergies and advise on treatments and environmental control measures that can reduce symptoms and improve quality of life,” said Dr Sánchez-Borges.

Throughout the week of 4 to 10 April, WAO will continually update http://www.worldallergyweek.org with news, activities, and resources. Member Societies of WAO, as well as healthcare organizations, academic institutions, patient advocacy organizations, and individuals involved in allergy care have organized local events including press conferences, patient education workshops, radio and web-based programs, and free clinics.
