World Animal Awareness Society Teams up with #StayProud Video Contest for Giving Tuesday

DETROIT, MICH (PRWEB) November 30, 2013 -- The World Animal Awareness Society and Stay Proud, the award-winning WA2S program, joins the #GivingTuesday drive beginning Dec. 3 to benefit homeless pets this holiday season.

More than $10 million was raised for charities across the country last year on Giving Tuesday. Taking place on Dec. 3 this year — the first Tuesday following Thanksgiving, Black Friday and Cyber Monday — Giving Tuesday is a day set aside for people to generously give back to charities and nonprofits through volunteer work and charitable donations.

Since the start of #GivingTuesday two years ago, more than 6,300 charities, corporations, foundations and individuals across the globe, from Bill Gates to the White House, have joined in the effort and have participated in charitable giving following the Thanksgiving holiday.

WA2S is sponsoring the Stray Proud video competition to encourage dog/cat rescue centers, shelters and foster programs to submit videos of strays they have rescued to compete for cash prizes in honor of Giving Tuesday this year.

“Every dog deserves to have a home,” said Tom McPhee, executive director of WA2S.

Winning video stories will have the opportunity to compete for more than $22,000 in prizes, according to Cheryl Heppard of Front Street Public Relations.
