World Economic Forum Names FlexJobs’ CEO Sara Sutton Fell as Young Global Leaders Honoree
Boulder, CO (PRWEB) March 11, 2014 -- The World Economic Forum, an independent international organization committed to improving the state of the world by engaging business, political, academic, and other leaders, announced its selection of Sara Sutton Fell, CEO and founder of FlexJobs, to be included in its 2014 class of Young Global Leaders (YGL). Sutton Fell, a leader in and advocate for the flexible employment market, joins 214 chosen people from 66 countries as a member of the YGL class of 2014 with a six-year term.
Sutton Fell is among a select group of honorees, including Charlize Theron (actress & activist), Jonah Peretti (co-founder/CEO of BuzzFeed), and Olivia Leland (director, Giving Partnerships at Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation). According to the World Economic Forum, "candidates are selected based on their proven track record of professional accomplishments, breadth of their expertise, and commitment to society, among other criteria. All of the nominations go through a rigorous selection process involving internal vetting, independent evaluation, and finally screening by a selection Committee headed by Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan."
Some of the other 2014 Young Global Leaders related to the U.S. tech industry include: David Carp (founder/CEO of Tumblr), Jared Cohen (director, Google Ideas at Google), and Leah Busque (founder/CEO of TaskRabbit). Current YGL members from previous classes include: Neil Blumenthal (co-founder & co-CEO of Warby Parker), Pete Cashmore (CEO of Mashable), Tony Hsieh (CEO of Zappos.com), Sheila Lirio Marcelo (founder & CEO of Care.com), Mark Zuckerberg (CEO of Facebook), Marissa Mayer (CEO of Yahoo), and many others.
Regarding this opportunity, Sutton Fell says, "I am beyond honored to be welcomed into the WEF Young Global Leaders community, to have the opportunity to engage with such accomplished individuals, and to contribute on a more global level to issues surrounding employment and other critical topics."
In fact, the WEF’s Global Risk 2014 Report highlights unemployment and underemployment as two of the biggest impact issues facing the world in 2014. This report discusses WEF’s intentions to “help develop strategies to defeat these global risks and to mitigate against their harshest effects, as well as to help build communities and businesses that are resilient and adaptable." Some of the related issues include workplace technology, training, the sharing economy, equality, youth employment, workplace wellness, and training.
"As an entrepreneur focused on the growing of flexible, telecommuting, and freelance job markets and their many benefits, I am inspired by the advancements in workplace technology that enable jobs and companies to be more geographically neutral, therefore opening up job opportunities in locations that previously weren't feasible," added Sutton Fell.
