World Karate Champion Sensei Mike Reeves of Over the Edge Training Sets Another World Record at Ripley’s "Oddtoberfest"
Orlando, FL (PRWEB) October 17, 2013 -- Sensei Mike Reeves of Orlando, Florida, a 10-time International Sport Karate Association World Karate Champion and three-time Guinness-certified World Record holder in martial breaking, brought his Over the Edge karate team to the Orlando, Florida Ripley’s Believe It Or Not "Oddtoberfest" held October 12, where two world records were set in martial arts breaking. Reeves himself set a new Ripley’s and International Sport Karate Association world record when he broke through eleven two-inch concrete slabs with one stomp kick, and team member John Zurisk set a world record of his own when he kicked through seven wood 2x4’s in 10 seconds.
Reeves, a 40-year veteran of the martial arts, is not only showing no signs of slowing down, he’s actually working harder now than he ever has before. Renowned in karate circles for his maniacal dedication to conditioning, he continues to devote hours each day to a regimen that includes 1,000 pushups, 1,000 crunches, and 500 squats, and all of this in addition to the many hours of pure karate training in which he engages daily. Says Reeves, who did not even set his first world record until he reached age 40, “While the expression ‘age is just a number’ has become greatly overused, the fact is that I simply don’t walk around terribly cognizant of age; I do what I want, and train as hard as I want, and I don’t allow anyone else’s perceptions of what I should be doing influence my way of thinking.” On that note, Reeves mentioned he is currently writing a book for the over-forty male audience that’s designed to help them achieve the same levels of physical toughness he's come to enjoy by virtue of his particular training habits.
