World's First micro-VTOL JetPack Flies in Abu Dhabi
ABU DHABI, UAE, Feb. 5, 2018 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- In a city known for cutting edge aviation technology, spectators at the 2018 Red Bull Air Race were treated to a very special site; a man with a set of custom modified, twin turbine jet engines on his back performed an intricate set of flight maneuvers that made even this stunt crazy crowd roar with delight.
Unlike other personal flight technologies, JetPack Aviation's JB10 JetPack has no wings, requires no launch plane, and takes off straight up from a dead standing start. The micro-VTOL machine is so small the pilot can comfortably walk around with the unit fully fueled. Speeds upwards of 100mph and altitudes exceeding 10,000 feet are well within the JetPack's capabilities.
"Flying our JetPack is completely intuitive" said David Mayman, company CEO and principal JetPack pilot. Explaining the elegant dual arm pilot system, Mayman explains "To go forward, I just lean forward. To turn, I just lean left or right. Speed and altitude are regulated by simple hand controls. It's stable, powerful, and a dream to fly. And, it is a lot of fun."
The California based company designs and builds the entire JetPack in-house. All on-board computer systems and the proprietary patent pending software programs were also developed by JPA's team of engineers.
Under a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA) with the US Special Operations Command (USSOCOM), also known as US Special Forces, JetPack Aviation is working on several special application micro-VTOL vehicles for military, first responder, and urban mobility use. The enormous wealth of technical data, know how and experience gained from developing the JetPack has given the company a unique advantage in this multi-billion dollar market.
When asked what it felt like to fly a JetPack, JPA Operations Manager and certified Jetpack Pilot Boris Jarry responded, "Flying a JetPack is a thrill beyond words. I had no pilot experience of any sort and I am not an engineer. And with just a couple of weeks of training, I was able to make my first solo free flight. "
JetPack Aviation is currently working with some of the world's leading VCs to raise capital to commercialize its suite of VTOL aircraft. Investors interested learning more about the company are invited to visit the company website: http://www.JetPackAviation.com
