World’s Premier Arborists, Scientists and Researchers to Meet for International Events in Washington, D.C.
Champaign, Illinois (PRWEB) June 01, 2017 -- Nearly 2,000 professional arborists from around the world will converge on Washington, D.C. this summer for the International Society of Arboriculture’s (ISA) Annual Conference & Trade Show at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center, July 30 – August 2, 2017.
This year’s event, “One World Under One Canopy”, will include opportunities for international networking and multiple educational sessions on such topics as industry safety, sustainability, tree risk, and trees and human health, and two full days of an industry trade show.
“ISA’s Annual Conference & Trade Show provides an international forum for the exchange of information by industry leaders from around the globe,” says Michelle Mitchell, ISA president. “Here they can share their thoughts and views about the newest trends in equipment, practice, technology and research in arboriculture and urban forestry.”
Among the key presentations at this year’s event: what’s being done to restore, enhance, and protect the tree canopy in the U.S. capital; how the design of city green space bridges a path to arboriculture; and the benefits of tree climbing as rehabilitation for people with disabilities.
Prior to the conference, the International Tree Climbing Championships (ITCC) will take place at the United States National Arboretum, where the world’s best male and female professional tree climbers will compete for the title of world champion. Pre-ITCC workshops and the competition begin on Friday afternoon, July 28 and continue through Sunday, July 30.

The ITCC–organized by the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) and presented by The Davey Tree Expert Company– is free and open to the public. The event will showcase arborists in action and help educate consumers about professional tree work, and the training and expertise it requires to be done safely.
The simultaneous three- day Arbor Fair and Expo provides additional opportunities for the public to learn about the benefits of trees and proper tree care through educational displays and activities for children and adults.
“I’m looking forward to all the ‘wows’ from the spectators as they watch world class arborists compete in the magnificent trees at the National Arboretum,” adds Nancy Herwig, executive director of ISA’s Mid-Atlantic Chapter and local host. “They will also learn so much about professional arboriculture by interacting with the exhibitors at Arbor Fair and Expo.”
