World T.E.A.M. Sports Sponsor of December 21 Boston Celtics Experience
Boston, Massachusetts (PRWEB) December 18, 2013 -- National non-profit World T.E.A.M. Sports announced today its sponsorship support of the December 21 Celtics Experience from Massachusetts’ Ultimate Sports Program.
World T.E.A.M. Sports will provide game admission for 50 participating children to the National Basketball Association’s Celtics-Washington Wizards game at Boston’s TD Garden. Jerseys will also be supplied for 24 children who will play in a special halftime contest before the Saturday afternoon audience. Another six girls from Ultimate Sports Program will perform as members of a dance team in the halftime activities. Prior to the game, other children will meet players from the Celtics and the Warriors from court side. All participating children will create a fan tunnel to welcome the Celtics players back on court for the second half.
”Our programs goal of social inclusion through sports has been very successful, thanks to the help from organizations like the Boston Celtics and World T.E.A.M. Sports,” said Steve Berube, Ultimate Sports Program’s Program Director. “We use big events like our Celtics Experience to introduce our program to families from all over New England who had never heard of USP. The majority of those families will then take part in various sports and events throughout the year.”
Partnering with Massachusetts’ non-profit organization, The Association for Community Living, Ultimate Sports Program creates sporting programs in football, basketball, sled hockey and many outdoor activities for special needs children and teens age six to 21. World T.E.A.M. Sports has for several years supported Ultimate Sports Program activities like the Celtics Experience. Berube reports such support is helping the organization reach more children in need.
“USP had a mailing list of about 40 families with about six or seven of those families having kids with special needs,” Berube explained. “We now have over 600 families who receive our weekly newsletter and about half of them have a child with a special need.”
The game between the first place Celtics and fourth place Wizards will be regionally televised by Comcast SportsNet New England. Ultimate Sports Program member Stephanie Berube will sing the National Anthem prior to the 1 p.m. game.
World T.E.A.M. Sports is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization chartered in North Carolina and headquartered in Holbrook, New York. Celebrating 20 years in 2013, World T.E.A.M.
