World Whisky Day Toasts Cloud Hosting From iomart
(PRWEB UK) 14 May 2014 -- The founder of World Whisky Day has credited iomart Group plc (AIM:IOM), one of the UK and Europe’s leading cloud companies, for helping him turn his start-up idea into a global event.
Blair Bowman came up with the idea for an internationally recognised day to celebrate whisky while he was a student at Aberdeen University. He now has the support of the Scottish Government which has made World Whisky Day part of its Homecoming Scotland 2014 programme.
Blair says the third annual World Whisky Day on May 17 promises to be even bigger and better this year. It is being celebrated on almost every continent and in Australia for instance 1000 outlets are staging World Whisky Day events.
He said: “Hosting World Whisky Day with iomart is beneficial in two ways. Not only does it mean the website is always up and people can access it from anywhere in the world, but it also lends weight when I am talking to the big whisky brands and other potential partners and advertisers because they can see that I am being supported by a successful UK Plc.”
The World Whisky Day website is hosted by iomart on its CloudSure platform so that capacity can be scaled as the event moves through the different time zones from Asia across to America. The website is expected to receive more than 20,000 hits an hour at peak times.
Phil Worms, Director of Marketing for iomart, said: “Cloud hosting gives the World Whisky Day website the reliable and robust support it needs to ensure the event goes as smoothly as possible. As the website moves into the realms of e-commerce in the future it will be easy to adapt the hosting requirements to cope.”
