Worldwide Express Midwest Names Kevin Ferguson as COO, Selects New Office Space in Chicago’s River North Neighborhood
(PRWEB) March 17, 2015 -- Worldwide Express Midwest, a franchise of the Dallas-based global logistics company Worldwide Express, today named Kevin Ferguson as chief operating officer, and announced its upcoming move into new office space in Chicago’s River North neighborhood. After finishing 2014 with 20 percent growth in revenue – exceeding $54 million – the franchise is establishing the foundation for its aggressive future growth plans.
“We see this as a great time for major expansion, and most importantly, the perfect time to add talent to our team,” said Kevin Ferguson, chief operating officer at Worldwide Express Midwest. “I’m excited to take the helm as COO as we help Chicago-area small businesses grow with simple, affordable and hassle-free shipping solutions.”
Ferguson, previously the vice president of sales at Worldwide Express Midwest, has been with the organization since 2004. His first move as COO was to plan the relocation of its growing 21-person Chicago team to Chicago’s vibrant River North area. The company’s future location has space for 60 team members – which it plans to fill within the next 18 months – and will feature a rooftop deck, a full bar for company happy hours, and ample space for the team to collaborate and brainstorm.
“With this new flagship location, we intend to build a world-class team of sales professionals,” said Ferguson. “I started my Worldwide Express career in sales, and have developed an incredible appreciation for how the company supports, trains, develops, and promotes internally. Sales is a challenging but rewarding career path, and we expect this team-focused environment to make all the difference in attracting talent.”
In addition to Chicago, Worldwide Express Midwest owns and operates branches in St. Louis, Mo.; Kansas City, Mo.; and Grand Rapids, Mich. As one of the largest franchise groups within Worldwide Express, the organization takes a consultative approach to small businesses that are often overlooked in the transportation industry due to their size.
Nationally, Worldwide Express handles millions of package and freight shipments for more than 35,000 small and midsize businesses through its unique partnership with UPS® and best-in-class freight carriers. The company was founded in 1995 with a simple idea: to give small and midsize companies – those that form the backbone of the U.S. economy – the same volume perks and shipping options afforded to Fortune 500 companies. Worldwide Express works closely with business owners to identify shipping challenges, and then provides solutions to support their success and help them compete better in the marketplace.
