WPL Publishing Aims to Help Construction Project Teams Avoid Claims via Upcoming Webinar
Washington, DC (PRWEB) November 27, 2013 -- WPL Publishing soon will host a webinar that is designed to help construction project teams avoid claims. Specifically, the program will examine contract specifications and construction-management practices that give rise to claims and then illustrate how these specifications and construction-management practices, in real-life situations, can lead to claims.
Construction professionals want to avoid claims, but too frequently their contract specifications and construction-management practices work against them. The key to successful claims avoidance, once a project contract has been executed, is to provide the project team with the tools it needs to identify problems quickly, measure impacts reliably, and price them fairly, resolving changes as they arise. Although many contracts are written to avoid claims, in reality, some contribute more to claims avoidance than others. Many widely used construction-management approaches actually encourage claims. The webinar is structured to help construction professionals avoid these types of problems. To register for the 90-minute event, scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 5, 2013, at 1:00 p.m. (EST), visit http://tinyurl.com/layuvym.
The webinar, entitled “Empowering the Project Team to Successfully Avoid Claims,” will do the following:
- Define changes and claims as well as show how and why claims arise.
- Identify specifications that encourage claims.
- Evaluate construction-management practices and contract specifications that encourage claims.
- Explain the best practices for claims avoidance.
- Discuss the use of time-and-material provisions to price changes.
- Show how to achieve success despite these specifications.
- Review construction-management practices that either encourage or avoid claims.
Addressing webinar attendees will be Trauner Consulting Services Inc. Principal J. Scott Lowe. His expertise lies in the areas of critical path method scheduling, construction claim preparation and evaluation, dispute resolution, technical document development, contract administration, and cost analysis. He has directed and performed virtually all types of analyses, including those involving delay, productivity, and efficiency. On many occasions, he has provided expert testimony at deposition, arbitration, and trial.
After the presentation, there will be an interactive 10-to-15 minute question-and-answer session addressing relevant topics.
Webinar tuition is based on location, not number of participants, so each registration site can have multiple participants for one low price. To register, visit http://tinyurl.com/layuvym.
