WRA Architects designs new campus for Village Tech Schools
Dallas, TX (PRWEB) December 03, 2015 -- Village Tech Schools, a charter school serving grades pre-K through 12, is in the design stage of their new permanent campus to be located near Belt Line Road in Cedar Hill's historic downtown. WRA Architects of Dallas is designing the school, and Northstar Builders of Coppell has been selected as the Construction Manager, or builder.
"We are thrilled to partner with WRA and the City of Cedar Hill on this exciting new project," said David Williams, Village Tech's founder and CEO. "When we're finished, the school will enclose 168,000 square feet in four separate buildings and will serve up to 1,040 students."
The four structures include a 3-story classroom building for grades 3-12, a preschool for grades PreK-2, a gymnasium and dining building, and "the Forge."
The Forge is the heart of the school and embodies Village Tech's educational philosophy. It includes maker spaces, art studios, computer labs, and presentation and demonstration space. This is where students from all grade levels will design and construct projects that relate to and illustrate their curriculum in all core subjects.
Keith Anderson, AIA, is WRA's director of design and principal-in-charge of the project. He commented, "Village Tech has a wonderfully innovative approach to education, and working with them on bringing their vision to life on a new campus has been very exciting for our design team."
The campus will be one of the first projects in the redevelopment of Cedar Hill's urban center and hopes to be a catalyst for further development of this area. The school will hold its "Home of Tomorrow" preview of the new campus on the future school site at 100 Carrell Street in Cedar Hill on Saturday, December 12, from 11 am to 2 pm.
Construction will start in mid-2016.
