Writer/Director of Hit Movie 2016: OBAMA’S AMERICA To Debate Former Weather Underground leader and Obama Colleague, Bill Ayers
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) January 30, 2014 -- Dinesh D’Souza, writer/director of the 2nd biggest political documentary in history, 2016: Obama’s America and former Weather Underground leader Bill Ayers have announced that the duo will debate one another at D’Souza’s alma mater, Dartmouth College on January 30th.
Ayers, a prominent progressive thinker and cultural commentator is known for his former leadership of the Weather Underground, a countercultural movement that opposed the US involvement in the Vietnam War and was labeled a ‘domestic terrorist group’ by the FBI. He became a household name in 2008 during President Obama’s first campaign for president. Although he was linked to President Obama by GOP critics throughout the campaign, the President himself described Ayers as “a guy who lives in my neighborhood, who is a professor of English in Chicago, who I know…. He is not someone who I exchange ideas with on a regular basis.”
With a doctorate in education from Columbia University, Ayers became a professor at University of Illinois and an elementary education theorist, with innovative approaches to reaching at-risk youth. Ayers has spoken out publically regarding war crimes committed by every past President, and has even said that President Obama should be tried for his use of unmanned drones.
D’Souza, a former Reagan administration official and New York Times best-selling author and former university president added filmmaker to his resume when his 2012 film 2016: Obama’s America rocked the box office, becoming the #2 political documentary of all time.
“Bill Ayers is a powerful writer and speaker and an influential force in education. I am glad to have the chance to cross swords with him," noted D'Souza.
D’Souza’s next project, AMERICA, releases in theaters nationwide on July 4, 2014.
The event will be streamed live at http://www.dot)dineshdsouza(dot)com and will be aired on C-SPAN at a later date.
