Writers @ Harriman Invites High School Students to Workshop
(PRWEB) May 03, 2015 -- Writers @ Harriman is a one-week residential writing workshop for high school students held August 2-8, 2015, at Harriman State Park of Idaho. Harriman State Park (HSP) is near Yellowstone National Park between Ashton and Island Park, Idaho. The camp is especially designed for students who like to stretch their imaginations through writing and want to be outdoors. Last year, 40 students from 35 different high schools in five states attended.

The outstanding teacher writers for W@H 2015 are Diane Raptosh of Boise; Alan Heathcock of Boise; Chris Dempsey of Middleton, Idaho; and Nicole LeFavour of Boise. During the week, students will work in small groups, writing with these professional writers for about five hours each day, exploring writing, literature, new styles, and techniques. By the end of the week, they will have prepared work to read before an audience of parents and friends. Their work will also be published in Henry’s Fork Journal, the student anthology.
In addition to spending a week in Idaho’s finest outdoor classroom, students may choose some of the optional workshops, watercolor painting, handmade books and storytelling. In the age-old spirit of a summer camp, they hike, take nature walks, ride horses into the mountains, fish and swim in the famed Henry’s Fork. They also band together for a service project with the HSP biologist. Of course, they also sing and roast marshmallows around a campfire.
