WVC Gears Up for 88th Annual Conference in Las Vegas
LAS VEGAS (PRWEB) December 03, 2015 -- One of the world’s largest veterinary continuing education (CE) events is expected to attract nearly 15,000 veterinary professionals to the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas from March 6–10. The WVC Annual Conference, which has long been held in mid-February, has moved to March and is dedicated in 2016 to a leader in the veterinary profession, Dr. Randall G. Ezell.
The conference, an annual tradition for many veterinary professionals, is an immersive five days that includes new product announcements, networking functions, world-class entertainment and an opportunity to connect with colleagues.
Participants choose from a variety of learning environments from meal-time seminars, workshops, symposia, lectures and hands-on labs across six topic areas: small animal, equine, veterinary technician, practice management, food animal, and avian and exotics. Hands-on labs with expert instructors will be held at WVC’s Oquendo Center, a state-of-the-art clinical educational facility located only minutes from the Las Vegas Strip.
“We are constantly striving to make each conference better than the year before,” said WVC CEO David Little. “More than 1,000 hours of CE will be available for participants to create their own learning experience. And the new date in March has allowed WVC to have a dedicated space at Mandalay Bay, which will make for a more immersive experience for participants and the more than 500 exhibitors.”
Some of the new features include:
• Exhibit Hall Location: Now on the first floor of the Mandalay Bay South Convention Center, the Exhibit Hall is dedicated to the WVC Annual Conference and will host more than 500 exhibitors.
• Learning Lounges: These 20-minute sessions in the Exhibit Hall are meant to deliver bites of CE in a small, intimate setting, allowing for one-on-one time with instructors. Topics to be released soon!
• WVC Connect: Navigate your way around the Exhibit Hall and locate your favorite booths with the improved conference app. Participants will now be able to annotate session notes within the app, which will also provide the most up-to-date conference information. The popular Vet Detective game—which encourages participants to solve clues located at various exhibitor booths for the chance to win cash and prizes—will be accessible from the app, eliminating the need for a passport and pen.
• Exhibit Hall Only Hour: A dedicated Exhibit Hall hour will be offered Monday through Wednesday from 1–2 p.m., allowing for greater learning and interaction on the Exhibit Hall floor. No educational sessions will take place during this time.
Additional conference activities and entertainment include:
• 5K fun run/walk
• Hills comedy night with comedian Brian Regan
• Chef Battle cooking competition
• Culinary walking tour
• Brewery tour and beer tasting
• Reality TV Tour
• Alumni, student and technician receptions, veterinary technician fair and various networking opportunities
