East Rutherford, NJ (PRWEB) October 25, 2013 -- The Meadowlands Sports Complex has been plagued with a number of difficulties in recent years, from losing the Devils and Nets to the halted production of Xanadu. The new MetLife Stadium has been gathering attention to the sports complex by hosting Wrestlemania 29 this past spring and Super Bowl XLVIII this upcoming February.
The unfinished Xanadu was originally planned to be an indoor ski slope until construction halted in 2009 due to the Lehman Brothers’ bankruptcy. Since then, it has remained untouched, unfinished, and empty. The complex is now being called the American Dream and the Star Ledger reports that the Canadian company Triple Five is looking to convert it into a surfing pool. The proposal would call for a wave-generated to be the size of a football field, making it the largest wave-generated pool in the world.
Triple Five plans to not only finish the abandoned Xanadu structure but also expand it by 22 acres. This will include the water park and also an adjoining indoor theme park. Although the theme is still unannounced, Triple Five has agreements with DreamWorks Animation. They are now in legal dispute with the Giants and Jets who are trying to prevent an expansion.
Pyramid Group LLC is a professional construction company that was hired in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy to perform water damage restoration around the clock for residential homes in addition to being tasked to completely restore the Brooklyn Nets' training facility. Owner Jack Goldenberg stated that this project was one of the most difficult his company had to undertake - with two to three crews working around the clock to make buildings functional and more importantly live-able.
According to Goldenberg "the area looked like a war-zone, and we had to do as much as we could as fast as we could. People needed to get into their homes again, and at the same time the NBA needed to get their building up-and-running for the players to get back to work." The efforts of Pyramid Group LLC had a huge impact on bringing back the Meadowlands Complex to a state where events like The Super Bowl can occur. Now, with the interest of Triple Five promising to resume the Xanadu Project and create a point of interest in East Rutherford that attracts people from around the world, the future of the Meadowlands looks bright indeed.
