Xarelto Lawsuit Alleges Illinois Woman Suffered Life-Threatening Uterine Hemorrhage Due to Blood Thinner, Bernstein Liebhard LLP Reports
New York, New York (PRWEB) November 21, 2014 -- Xarelto lawsuits (http://www.xareltolawsuit2015.com/) continue to be filed in U.S. courts on behalf of patients who allegedly suffered uncontrollable internal bleeding and other complications related to its use, Bernstein Liebhard LLP reports. Court documents filed in U.S. District Court, Southern District of Illinois, indicate an Illinois woman is seeking compensation from the manufacturers of Xarelto for damages she allegedly incurred due to life-threatening uterine hemorrhaging caused by the blood thinner. According to the October 10th complaint, the Plaintiff began taking Xarelto in November 2013, and was hospitalized with uterine bleeding just a few weeks later, during which time she required multiple blood transfusions. Among other things, the lawsuit alleges that the drug’s manufacturers did not adequately warn patients about the possibility of Xarelto bleeding, and that had the Plaintiff been informed of this risk, she would never have agreed to take the medication. (Case No. 3:2014cv00987)
“Our Firm represents other Xarelto plaintiffs who are also alleged to have experienced life-threatening uncontrollable bleeding because of this blood thinner. We are closely monitoring this growing litigation,” said Bernstein Liebhard LLP, a nationwide law firm representing victims of defective drugs and medical devices. The Firm is currently offering free, no-obligation Xarelto case reviews to people who allegedly suffered serious injuries from the medication, including uncontrollable bleeding, strokes, deep vein thrombosis or pulmonary embolism.
Xarelto Litigation
Xarelto is a blood thinner that is approved by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration to prevent strokes in people with atrial fibrillation; as a treatment for deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism; and to prevent deep vein thrombosis in patients undergoing hip or knee replacement surgery. Like any blood thinner, Xarelto can sometimes cause episodes of internal bleeding. However, there currently exists no approved antidote to reverse this potential complication.*
According to court documents, at least 30 Xarelto lawsuits have been filed in U.S. courts on behalf of individuals who were allegedly harmed by the drug. On December 4, 2014, the U.S Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation (JPML) will hear Oral Arguments regarding a proposal to consolidate all federally-filed claims in a single court for coordinated pretrial-proceedings.
