Yamaha Marks 32 Years of Support for Drum Corps International With Introduction of Two New ‘All-Yamaha’ Corps
BUENA PARK, Calif. (PRWEB) July 08, 2016 -- Yamaha Corporation of America, Band & Orchestral division, celebrates 32 years of collaboration with Drum Corps International (DCI) with the introduction of two new, world-class “All-Yamaha” drum corps for 2016: The Blue Stars from Lacrosse, Wisconsin and Boston Crusaders from Boston, Massachusetts.
These drum and bugle corps are the latest DCI corps to adopt all-Yamaha brass and percussion instruments. Yamaha is now the official drumline brand for 18 total drum corps (nine world class and nine open class), representing an all-time high for the world’s largest music product manufacturer.
Yamaha has supported DCI – Marching Music’s Major League™ – since 1985. In that time, Yamaha corps have compiled an enviable record of accomplishments, including 16 DCI Championships, 15 Fred Sanford High Percussion Awards and nine Jim Ott High Brass Awards – more than any other manufacturer. In addition, corps that rely on Yamaha have won a third of all gold, silver and bronze medals bestowed in DCI competition since 1985.
“The most remarkable thing about these two new corps is that, despite receiving free equipment from other manufacturers, they chose to make the move to Yamaha quality,” said Troy C. Wollwage, percussion marketing manager, Band & Orchestral division, Yamaha Corporation of America. “These organizations understand that with Yamaha, all their performers need to do is focus on their performance, because they have 100 percent confidence in the quality, consistency, intonation and durability of our products.”
According to Wollwage, the key elements that draw drum corps to Yamaha include: world-class quality products, which are in turn shaped and refined through feedback received from the drum corps; exceptional product support, through in-house capabilities and a network of service partners throughout the United States; and the company’s unique position as a one-stop shop for world-class drum, brass and pro audio equipment.
The integration of pro audio products became approved for use in DCI in 2005, enabling DCI corps to create highly-polished productions of exceptional sound quality. Since then, Yamaha brass and percussion products have been complemented by Yamaha Pro Audio products.
In fact, the nine “All-Yamaha” Corps are using the 01V96 or the TF Digital Mixer. The new TF series digital audio consoles are being adopted along with active, or powered loudspeakers to improve performance, clarity and remote operation. The TF series was used by The Cavaliers and The Blue Knights in 2015, and The Cadets in 2016. In addition, the nine “All-Yamaha” Corps are using the DTX Multi-12 electronic percussion pad in competition this season.
Yamaha enjoys the longest relationships with DCI corps among current brands. Here is a snapshot of the company’s relationship with the major corps in 2016:
