Yamaha Unveils Signature MIDI Collection of Solo Piano Performances for Disklavier Reproducing Instrument
BUENA PARK, Calif. (PRWEB) April 24, 2015 -- Yamaha today released The Signature MIDI Collection of solo piano performances tailor-made for the company’s market leading reproducing piano, the Disklavier.
The content, which is available as free downloads in an intuitive database through the Yamaha Disklavier Education Network (DEN) website, http://www.YamahaDEN.com, consists of nearly 1,000 performances originally recorded on a Yamaha Disklavier PRO piano that can now be experienced on any Disklavier model.
The Disklavier is widely recognized as being the world’s finest reproducing piano on the market today possessing the most accurate playback system ever built. It is also the only commercially available reproducing piano that records and plays back at a high resolution, making it the ideal choice for capturing and then replaying high resolution piano performances on stage, in recording studios, in educational institutions, and in living rooms worldwide.
Yamaha has released over 20,000 songs in a variety of software types. The introduction of The Signature MIDI Collection expands the library with content compiled between 2002 and 2009 during the various rounds at the International Piano-e-Competitions, considered the most prestigious event of its kind for pianists under the age of 32.
At the touch of a button, pianists, teachers, students, music institutions and piano music lovers can experience some of the most inspiring solo piano performances from the Piano-e-Competitions faithfully recreated on the Disklavier, with each note and nuance delivered precisely as the pianist originally recorded it, and indistinguishable from the live performance.
Yamaha plans to expand the collection further with other sources of Disklavier recordings, including solo piano performances as well as piano accompaniments for instrumental and vocal repertoire. The Disklavier’s wide range of capabilities include slowing down a performance for analysis or transposing a piano accompaniment for a singer, leading to myriad educational opportunities and creating even more institutional benefits for conservancies, colleges, universities and other music programs—always a priority for Yamaha.
“The Signature MIDI Collection for the Yamaha Disklavier provides an indispensable educational and reference tool, as well as an inspirational listening experience for the piano aficionado,” said Jim Levesque, Disklavier marketing manager, Yamaha Corporation of America. “Yamaha designs and builds on Disklavier products with education in mind, as well as entertainment.”
Echoing this sentiment is George Litterst, music educator and Associate Editor for Clavier Companion: “The Signature MIDI Collection is an amazing resource for piano students, teachers, and educational institutions. Imagine being able to bring fine artists into your own piano studio or practice room and to listen while they play your piano. This resource has already become an effective tool in my own teaching.”
All performances are optimized for all past and current Disklavier models, and especially the Disklavier PRO Series, which offers the highest resolution of any reproducing piano with record and playback capabilities on the market today. Each performance also features biographical and scholarly information on the composers and compositions.
The DEN welcomes high quality contributions to the Signature MIDI Collection from the academic and professional music community. Inquiries about this can be sent to DEN(at)yamaha(dot)com.
The Disklavier Education Network (DEN) is an association of schools and educators who are expanding the opportunities for music education and performance using the remarkable technologies inherent in the Yamaha Disklavier. Member institutions and individuals participate in long distance lessons, master classes and concert broadcasts. They also contribute recorded materials—such as instrumental and vocal accompaniments—to a community archive, share technical tips and “best practices,” and enjoy access to premium support services from Yamaha.
