Austin, Texas (PRWEB) November 17, 2015 -- Yip Yap, the company founded by a husband and wife team and parents of four young kids, announced today the launch of its premier product, Pipsqueak, via the crowdfunding platform, Indiegogo. Pipsqueak is the world’s first Bluetooth smartphone for kids, allowing parents to give their kids a phone to talk or play on without risking their own expensive smartphone. Pipsqueak does not require any additional data plan or minutes, making it the only Bluetooth extension phone of its kind designed just for kids.
Pipsqueak has the ability to call, store music and play games. The phone is customizable, with interchangeable charms, photo disks and sound effects. Parents just need to enable Bluetooth on their smartphones, then can easily push calls directly to Pipsqueak. Parents can preset an approved call list and kids can download digital content designed to entertain and educate from the Yip Yap Yuniverse™.
Pipsqueak features a durable color LCD display, lithium polymer battery, built-in speakers, micro SD storage for games and music, and a directional keypad for game play. The phone does not have a SIM card or cellular antenna, and all incoming and outgoing calls are simply routed through the parents’ mobile number and wireless plan. Pipsqueak works with any phone equipped with Bluetooth calling capability.
“Handing technology to small children doesn’t have to be painful to mom and dad anymore,” says Michael Smith, founder and CEO of Yip Yap. “With Pipsqueak, we’ve created an age-appropriate device that kids love and parents are happy to hand out. No longer is there a risk that your 8-year old will break your $600 smartphone. We’re so excited to get Pipsqueak in the hands of kids everywhere!”
The Indiegogo campaign officially launches on November 16, 2015 and will run for 30 days. Backers will have the opportunity to pledge for Pipsqueak, along with a variety of other accessories and customizable features, starting at $69 via the Indiegogo campaign. At the close of the campaign, Yip Yap will begin manufacturing additional devices and continue fundraising. Funds raised via Indiegogo will be directly used to fill crowdfunded orders, set to ship the first 750 units before the end of 2015 and the rest in May 2016.
