YMCA of Kanawha Valley Honors Former West Virginia Governor W. Gaston Caperton, III with Spirit of the Valley Award
Valhalla, NY (PRWEB) August 26, 2014 -- USI Insurance Services (“USI”) announced that former West Virginia Governor W. Gaston Caperton, III, was honored recently by the YMCA of Kanawha Valley with its Spirit of the Valley award during the 30th annual Support Campaign fundraising event at the Charleston Civic Center in Charleston, West Virginia. The Governor was chosen for his lifetime of community service efforts that have not only been close to home but across the state of West Virginia.
Following the acquisition of 40 Wells Fargo Insurance brokerage and consulting locations across the United States, Governor Caperton was named senior advisor to USI to advance the Company’s growth strategy for its West Virginia, Kentucky and Virginia offices.
Michael J. Sicard, USI’s chairman, president and chief executive officer, said: “Throughout his career, Governor Caperton has demonstrated a passion and commitment to making West Virginia a better place to live and grow. It’s quite fitting that as one of our newest members of the USI family, Gaston receives this award while we celebrate 20 for 20: USI Gives Back, a month long event that promotes local volunteerism among each of our 140 offices to commemorate our 20th Anniversary. As each of us engages in community service across the country, we look at Gaston’s lifetime of contributions, his generosity and his constant concern for others for inspiration and motivation.”
The Spirit of the Valley Award recognizes those individuals who go above and beyond in community service. The money raised at the 30th annual Support Campaign fundraiser event helps members of the community get access to childcare, programs and facilities. The Y is one of the nation’s leading nonprofits, committed to strengthening communities in the areas of youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The inscription on the Spirit of the Valley Award reads, “For charity and wisdom, patience and humility,” and is taken from the admonition of the good Saint Francis.
