Yosemite Sierra Visitors Bureau Launches New Virtual Tour
Oakhurst, CA (PRWEB) September 06, 2013 -- The Yosemite Sierra Visitors Bureau has announced two new features on their website that they say will help further entice visitors to choose Yosemite and Madera County: California’s Gateway to Yosemite as vacation destinations.
The new features are an interactive virtual tour and an 8 minute video, each of which highlights attractions along what the bureau has dubbed the “Fossils to Falls Trail.”
“The Fossils to Falls Trail showcases a lot of the great things to see and do along the way to Yosemite National Park,” said Rhonda Salisbury with the bureau.
“The idea with the trail is to show people that their trip doesn’t just have to be about the destination, but about the journey. Their entire route to Yosemite is filled with some great attractions. The virtual tour will help travelers find the attractions that interest them so they can plan their trip,” she said.
The tour was created by the company Xplorit, which specializes in creating the interactive tours.
“Xplorit combines the latest in satellite mapping technology with videography and 360 degree photography to create an immersive virtual tour that is the closest thing someone can get to being at a destination without being there. It really helps capture a destination and makes people want to experience it for themselves,” said Greg Murtha, President/CEO of Xplorit.
While the crew from Xplorit gathered the footage they needed for the tour, the YSVB also contacted them to shoot footage to create what was planned to be a 5 minute video highlighting the Fossils to Falls Trail.
“We have so many great attractions the video ran over to 8 minutes, and we still didn’t fit everything in,” said Salisbury.
“Fortunately Xplorit did a great job on the video and the virtual tour so we really got some great products that do an incredible job of showing off everything our area has to offer.”
