Young Entrepreneur to Develop Checkers Location with Father’s Support
Tampa, FL. (PRWEB) September 02, 2014 -- Checkers and Rally’s Restaurants, Inc. For example, its newest franchise owner, Fatima Ahmad, has more than 12 years of experience in the quick-service industry — yet she is only 26 years old. She plans to open her first Checkers restaurant this spring in Fredericksburg, Va., with the support of her father Masood, another longtime restaurant franchisee and operator.
Fatima began her career in the restaurant industry at age 14 as a crew member at Wendy’s, and she kept working in the quick-service industry through high school, including at a Subway restaurant Masood owned and operated. She continued at that Subway while also completing her bachelor’s degree in criminal justice at Virginia Commonwealth University. The Ahmads plan to open a second Checkers restaurant within three years and aim to have five locations by 2019.

Most recently, Fatima was General Manager of a local Lime Fresh Mexican Grill location, and she also gained experience assisting family friends with staffing and training a restaurant when they opened a Taco Bell restaurant in Maryland. She became familiar with Checkers after repeatedly visiting a location two of her uncles own in Maryland.
“My dad and I have wanted to open a business together for a long time, and when we were doing our due diligence on all the different restaurants out there, we kept coming back to Checkers,” Fatima said. “Apparently, so do a lot of people. The Checkers near my house always seems to have heavy foot traffic. We’re confident there is a lot of room for Checkers in and around Washington, D.C.”
Checkers continues to add craveable menu selections and introduce daring flavors to its fans.
