Young Man's Search for Donor Father Leads Him Down Dark Path in New Mystery Thriller
EDINA, Minn. (PRWEB) June 20, 2017 -- In author Richard Osborn’s new mystery thriller “The Day Always Comes” (published by Archway Publishing), a young man searching for his donor father is led down a dark path he never could have imagined. Osborn will be signing copies of his books at a local Barnes & Noble July 15th.
Mike Gibbons, who was conceived through artificial insemination, was only 4 when his single mother was killed in a car accident. Raised by his grandparents, he grows angry about not knowing his father’s identity. When he enlists in the Navy after graduation, he befriends Mary, who encourages Mike return to his boyhood hometown to search for his father, where he soon finds himself haunted by a local, unsolved murder case.
The story was in part inspired by a news story Osborn saw 30 years ago, about an innocent man released from death row: “A man was released from the state prison, having been on death row for 15 years. He was found innocent of a murder. … The (real) killer confessed on his deathbed,” Osborn explains. “I have never forgotten the accused man walking out of that gate of the prison to his family. My thought was, what if he had been executed?”
This level of uncertainty permeates the story – and the reader is left to wonder about the truth. Osborn adds, “I want them to think: Did he or didn’t he?” Wrapped within a murder mystery, the novel challenges ideas surrounding the morality of capital punishment, and whether the death penalty has a place in modern society.
