Young People in Recovery Receives $1 Million Dollar Pledge from Life of Purpose
Denver, CO (PRWEB) September 09, 2015 -- Young People in Recovery (YPR) — a national grassroots advocacy organization focused on creating recovery-ready communities throughout the nation for young people in or seeking recovery — today announced that Life of Purpose, a South Florida behavioral health conglomerate, has pledged a $1,000,000 unrestricted gift to YPR.
“This unprecedented $1,000,000 gift is about more than just money, it is a call to action for recovery philanthropy to be taken to the next level,” said Justin Luke Riley, YPR President and CEO. “We will use this to leverage our efforts across the youth recovery advocacy movement. Most importantly, this gift represents hope and validates that young people in recovery are extraordinary and worthy of our investment of time and money.”
Life of Purpose is the only residential substance use disorder treatment center located on a college campus in the United States. The program is dedicated to providing the educational resources and clinical services necessary to promote success and empower young adults. They do this through multi-modality clinical care, and a proprietary academically focused case management and aftercare program.
“Given the scale of the current public health crisis surrounding substance use disorder, I believe that it is long past time we, as an industry and as a society, get behind and support the recovery advocacy movement,” said Andrew Burki, CEO of Life of Purpose. “If we want young people to succeed in their recovery, we need to create safe spaces and communities for them to grow and thrive in long after they have completed substance use disorder treatment. The work Young People in Recovery is doing to build supportive environments, within communities, for emerging adults and adolescents in recovery from substance use disorders is without equal. We do not need to figure out the 'how.' We simply need to scale their efforts up on a macro level.”
In addition to this extremely generous pledge, YPR will also establish a new partnership with Life of Purpose. YPR will implement the YPR E.P.I.C program at every Life of Purpose facility around the country, including facilities in Florida, as well as Texas and Arizona in the near future. Standing for Evidence Based, Peer Delivered, Individually Focused, and Community Based, E.P.I.C. empowers and educates individuals receiving care earlier in the intervention and stabilization process, allowing them to find their voice, invest in their own recovery and become a collaborator in the decision-making process, while still in drug treatment.

Life of Purpose provides academically focused substance abuse treatment in Boca Raton, Florida with plans to open additional locations in 2015 and 2016.
The Boca facility sits in the Research and Development Park on the Florida Atlantic University campus in close proximity to Lynn University and Palm Beach State College. Clients can study at any of these three institutions or, in some cases, attend the college of their choice remotely.
