San Antonio, Texas (PRWEB) June 25, 2014 -- The Youth Orchestras of San Antonio board of directors has selected 37-year-old Brandon Henson to lead YOSA as Executive Director. Henson joined YOSA in 2012 and recently served as YOSA’s interim executive director and operations director. He fills a position vacated in July 2013 by Steven Payne who left to accept a position with the Oakland East Bay Symphony in Oakland, California.
“YOSA changes kids’ lives through music and I am dedicated to make sure that continues to happen,” said Henson. “I am thrilled to work with Troy Peters, YOSA Music Director and the YOSA team, the young musicians and the San Antonio community.”
Before joining YOSA, Henson was a professional bassist working with legendary musical acts over the past ten years. His performance credentials include live and televised productions with Marvin Hamlisch, Debby Boone, Freda Payne, Jack Jones and the Lennon Sisters.
In 2006, Brandon had the opportunity to be the bassist for the legendary Les Brown's Band of Renown. In 2009, Brandon became the bassist for Mr. Andy Williams and has performed on many national and international tours as well as being the house bassist for the Moon River Theater in Branson, MO.
As YOSA Executive Director, Henson will manage many new developments for the organization including its move into the new Tobin Center for Performing Arts plus an international tour to Québec.
"We conducted a nationwide search and met several excellent candidates. However, it was clear to us in the end that the best person to lead YOSA was already an integral part of the YOSA family,” said board member Dr. John Frederick. “We feel that, under Brandon's leadership, we will be in great shape to continue our phenomenal growth, collaborate with the San Antonio arts community, and make a meaningful difference in the lives of our students."
