Zco Corporation Reveals App Development Trends of 2013
Nashua, NH (PRWEB) December 26, 2013 -- Custom software company Zco Corporation has released a list of trends it encountered in the course of developing mobile apps for its customers in 2013.
Acting as a developer for hire, Zco builds software and digital content based on client requirements. The source code and intellectual property is fully owned by the client.
In 2013, the company said more business customers than before began asking for internal “enterprise apps,” which are used exclusively by employees inside an organization rather than being released to the public through app stores such as Apple’s iTunes or Google Play. Enterprise apps often focus on proprietary business processes and increasing productivity.
Customers also requested “hybrid apps” more frequently than in previous years. Hybrid apps run on more than one operating system using universal code within a “wrapper” for different platforms. This feature is important for both consumer apps and enterprise apps, the company said, because smartphone and tablet owners often prefer to use their own device at home and at work.
“Much more than in previous years, our clients have been asking for their apps to be available on Android and iOS at the same time. It used to be that they would dip their toes in the market with one platform before expanding. Now it’s all in!” said Katie Meurin, Zco’s Director of Marketing. “It’s also crucial now more than ever to connect the apps to social tools like Facebook and Twitter, so that users can share content with their existing social networks. Our clients, especially in 2013, want apps that anybody can understand and start using and sharing right away.”
The Zco review of trends was conducted through interviews with some of the hundreds of developers employed by Zco Corporation.
Industry analysts such as Gartner have noted the influence of mobile technology on the technology sector, including on its own compilation of 2013 trends the hybrid app programming language HTML 5, enterprise app stores, cloud computing, and big data.
