ZCorum Adds Support for Arris CMTS Equipment to Its DOCSIS Return Path Spectrum Analysis Tool
Boston (PRWEB) July 20, 2015 -- ZCorum, an industry leader in the deployment of managed diagnostics tools and software for broadband providers, announced today at the NCTC Independent Show in Boston that its return path analysis tool, Upstream Analyzer, now supports the Arris C4 CMTS. The initial release of the product included support for Cisco CMTS.
“Providers with an Arris C4 and our Upstream Analyzer software can now clearly see ingress in the return-path spectrum without special equipment, and without the need to be at the headend,” said Scott Helms, Vice President of Technology at ZCorum. “This makes it easier and faster for technicians in the field who are tasked with tracking down noise in the plant. It’s also much less expensive and less complicated if you can use your CMTS as the spectrum analyzer instead of proprietary equipment.” Upstream Analyzer uses technology from Nimble This and CableLabs to collect and display the upstream spectrum data directly from the CMTS.
"Using the CMTS as a return-path spectrum analyzer has several advantages,” said Brady Volpe, President and Founder of Nimble This, a developer of DOCSIS Proactive Network Maintenance (PNM) tools. "There's no additional equipment or cabling needed, so it's simple to deploy, it’s cost effective, and the data is 100% accurate. Also, because the CMTS knows when cable modems are transmitting, you can easily isolate any noise that's under the DOCSIS carrier." According to Volpe, using the CMTS as your spectrum analyzer gives you insight into every active upstream port where before it was cost prohibitive.
“We’re very excited about this latest upgrade because it opens up the benefits of Upstream Analyzer to a lot of additional cable operators,” said Julie Compann. “Upstream Analyzer provides a simple and affordable solution for return path analysis, and we’re looking forward to demonstrating those benefits to NCTC and ACA members at the Independent Show this week.”
ZCorum will showcase Upstream Analyzer and its other DOCSIS network management tools in booth #623 this week in Boston at the NCTC Independent Show, the premier event for independent cable operators in North America.
