ZCorum Introduces New Outage Heat Map Option in TruVizion
Alpharetta, GA (PRWEB) December 11, 2015 -- ZCorum, an industry leader in the deployment of managed diagnostics tools and software for broadband providers, announced today a new Outage Heat Map option available with its TruVizion diagnostics software. The new map is a customer-facing feature that an operator can add to their website so subscribers can see if there are any internet outages in the area.
The data analysis capability in TruVizion’s patented technology generates a heat map using modem status data from the provider’s CMTS, and then displays the map on their website for subscribers to access. The map shows the approximate location of any areas affected by an outage. Subscribers can drill in on the map and drag their cursor to other locations within the map the same way they would in other online mapping systems.
“Subscribers want a way to check network status when they can’t connect, and often they will pull out their smartphone to check the provider’s website,” said Scott Helms, ZCorum’s Chief Technology Officer. “The heat map shows the heaviest concentrations of off-line modems, which would indicate a likely internet outage. This gives the operator an automated tool to keep their subscribers informed, and when a customer knows there is an outage, they’re less likely to call the provider’s technical support line.”
Helms said ZCorum provides the operator with some simple HTML and JavaScript to put on their website, along with instructions and parameters for how to configure the code to display the Outage Heat Map. Once that is in place, the map is automatically updated in real-time from the modem status data in TruVizion.
The Outage Heat Map is available for a nominal fee for any service provider using ZCorum’s TruVizion diagnostics software.
