Ziegler and LeadingAge CAST Release LZ 150 Technology Adoption Report

- Roughly 75% of all the communities among the largest 150 senior living providers have adopted electronic medical/health records
- A similar percentage has adopted electronic point of care/point of service documentation systems.
- Teleheath/remote patient Monitoring (4%), telecare/telemonitoring/behavioral monitoring (7.6%), and medication monitoring technologies (21.2%) are areas of growth and opportunity for senior living providers
Ziegler, a specialty investment bank, along with the LeadingAge Center for Aging Services Technology (CAST) is pleased to release the results of the LeadingAge/Ziegler 150 (LZ 150) second annual national Technology Adoption Report.
Some of the key findings include:
- Roughly 75% of all the communities among the largest 150 have adopted electronic medical/health records
- A similar percentage has adopted electronic point of care/point of service documentation systems
- The greatest opportunity for enhanced technological capacity is in the areas of teleheath/remote patient monitoring (4%), telecare/telemonitoring/behavioral monitoring (7.6%), and medication monitoring technologies (21.2%), each adopted by significantly fewer providers
Conducted since 2000, this annual survey provides great insight into the not-for-profit multi-site senior living market. The LZ 150 is a snapshot of the long-standing story of LeadingAge members, listing the largest not-for-profit senior living systems in the United States, by order of their total owned market-rate units. Reflecting the growth and significance of technological developments in senior living, the Technology Adoption Report surveys the LZ 150 about their implementation of various technologies, from electronic health records to remote monitoring and medication management innovations.
