Ziggedy, Inc. Helps Teachers Raise Funds for Their Own Classrooms
Fountain Valley, California (PRWEB) May 07, 2015 -- Ziggedy.com, a cause-shopping website that allows its users to earn donations for charities, PTAs/PTOs and other nonprofits, announced that the site will now also allow teachers to fundraise for their individual classrooms.
Users earn free donations when they click through Ziggedy before shopping at thousands of online retailers. Ziggedy decided to extend their fundraising platform after learning from teachers about their significant out-of-pocket expenditures and receiving strong interest from the teacher community.
“Teachers receive on average only $50 to $300 per year in funds from their PTA/PTO and are commonly spending out-of-pocket to keep up with basic classroom needs. Ziggedy offers an easy, no cost fundraising solution for everyone to support their teachers.” said Ziggedy’s CEO, Huy DangVu.
According to an article in Forbes, in the 2013-2014 school year “teachers in the United States have spent an average of $513 out-of-pocket on classroom supplies, instructional materials, books for their classrooms, and professional development,” (Leinbach-Reyhle, 2014). Teachers can now use Ziggedy to reduce these expenditures by obtaining free donations from the everyday online shopping of their students’ parents, friends and family.
Initial pilot results for teachers have been very promising. In less than a month and a half, Mrs. Smith, a teacher at Eastbluff Elementary School in Southern California, has been able to sign up 35 supporters and raise over $160 for her classroom. Through Ziggedy, Smith is on track to more than double her normal annual classroom funds.
“I was very excited once I learned that I could use Ziggedy to fundraise for my own classroom. My students’ parents as well as my own friends and family have signed up to support our classroom, and the feedback has been very positive from everyone involved. I have personally recommended Ziggedy to my teacher colleagues,” said Smith.
