ZooFari: A Fundraiser for the Smithsonian’s National Zoo
Washington, DC (PRWEB) April 21, 2014 -- Feast on some of the best food in the District at ZooFari. Guests are invited to sink their teeth into delicious dishes served by more than 100 of the area’s finest restaurants and wineries, while supporting the Smithsonian’s National Zoo’s conservation and education programs. ZooFari, hosted by FONZ (Friends of the National Zoo), will be May 15 from 6:30 – 9:30 p.m.
In addition to gourmet food and fine wines, ZooFari features enticing entertainment. Throughout the night guests will enjoy live music, exotic animal encounters, a silent auction, and a celebrity chef grill off. Using a mystery ingredient from the Zoo’s animal kitchen, celebrity chefs will go head to head in the Capital One Bank Celebrity Chef Grill Off to capture the 2014 ZooFari Grill Master crown. Todd Gray from Equinox, Anne Alfano from Little Red Fox, Rogue 24’s RJ Cooper, and Frederik De Pue from Menu MBK will compete.
Tickets for this annual fundraiser are available on the Zoo’s website (http://www.fonz.org/zoofari) or at the FONZ Membership Office in the Zoo’s Visitor Center. Prices are $175 for FONZ members and $200 for nonmembers.
Exclusive Premier Pavilion group packages also are available. These packages offer all-access tickets, valet parking passes, access to an exclusive VIP pre-party and the LivingSocial Lion Lounge, and can include behind-the-scenes exhibit tours.
The ZooFari Online Auction also offers an exciting way to support the Zoo’s programs. Bidding will be live until Sunday, May 11. Vacation getaways, exclusive Zoo tours, cooking lessons with top area chefs, and animal art are only a few of the hundreds of items available in the auction. Proceeds benefit the National Zoo’s animal care, science, education, and conservation programs.
ZooFari is sponsored by Fresh 94.7 FM, Big Bus Tours, Capital One Bank ®, The Coca-Cola Company, Comcast, GEICO, Manhattan Auto of Bethesda, MD, Rosenthal Jaguar/Land Rover, LivingSocial, NBC4, Washingtonian Magazine, and WTOP and WTOP.com.
