Zoomita Launches College Planning Platform
Oakland, California (PRWEB) November 20, 2014 -- Billing itself as “the smart way to do application essays,” Zoomita is a free college planning tool focused on rapid college list creation and application essay management. Application essays are the third most important factor in admissions and are widely considered by students to be the most difficult part of college applications.
“Despite all of the recent innovations in college planning, many high school students are still doing their application essays in pretty much the same way their parents did. Students are forced to spend way too much time tracking down requirements and struggling with document management when they should be building stronger applications. To complement its free offering, Zoomita will sponsor a $1,000 College Scholarship for all currently enrolled high school students (available 11/26). To apply, students are directed to create an account and respond to the “mystery question” located in the app. Users will also have access to “Beat the Essay,” a step-by-step guide featuring introductions by Deans of Admission at University of Pennsylvania and UC Berkeley, as well as sample essays (also available 11/26).
Zoomita tracks around six thousand essay prompts for over 1,000 colleges. Rather than having to visit each school's individual website to find requirements - which might take days or weeks - Zoomita allows students to generate a report of all their essay prompts in seconds. Because essay prompts sometimes differ by application, Zoomita collects data for every application accepted by each college.
Zoomita also functions as a document management and doc-sharing system. Unlike tools like Google docs, the app does not require users to create files and save them into folders. Students simply select the college and essay they would like to work on and all of their drafts for that essay are automatically organized and viewable in a feed-style format. The app allows users to share any draft with a single click. Reviewers do not need a Zoomita account to access the draft they’ve been invited to review.
