ZTR Modernizes Locomotive Axle Generators for Timken Bearings
Minneapolis (PRWEB) October 31, 2013 -- The new ZTR Locomotive Axle Generator is designed for the rigors of the railroad and features a modern, low-profile design. It is field-configurable, easy-to-install, and fits on all Timken bearings. It mounts on the locomotive journal box by a versatile ring bracket design and uses an easy-to-route flexible cable. It also affixes to axles without splines.
The pulse per revolution (PPR) signal is programmable so it can replace virtually any older unit. The low profile of the Axle Generator means it is less likely to get damaged from impact. The IP69K rating prevents water and oil from getting inside and freezing, increasing reliability.
“The encapsulated electronics and low profile make this device more reliable than what is currently available,” said Dave Brooks, ZTR Product Development Manager. “In addition, the ZTR Locomotive Axle Generator is universal and easy to install.”
