Zunesis Employees Help Build the Company’s Sixth Habitat Home
Denver, CO (PRWEB) August 31, 2015 -- Habitat for Humanity changes the lives of their partner families. However, it takes thousands of volunteers each year for Habitat to continue the work that they do. On Thursday, August 27th, the entire Zunesis team spent the day working on the build site for the home that the company is sponsoring this year.
2015 marks the eighth consecutive year that Zunesis has partnered with Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver to either partially or fully fund a home for a deserving Habitat partner family. As stated in the Zunesis Company Core Values, the company believes in making a positive impact on their community. Their dedicated investment in Habitat for Humanity – both through finances and volunteer hours – proves that this statement is more than words on paper to them.
Habitat requires that the recipients of their homes invest 200 hours of labor, what they term “sweat equity,” in the building of their homes. The Zunesis team has learned that by investing some of their own sweat equity in helping build the company-sponsored home, the investment becomes personal for the employees. The work with Habitat is no longer simply something the Zunesis corporate structure does; it is something the employees have adopted.
“It’s who we are as a company,” stated Zunesis CEO, Steve Shaffer. “We believe strongly in teamwork, and we believe strongly in investing in our community. Spending an entire day as a team working on a Habitat build site helps us stay focused on both of those priorities.” Despite the fact that a day on a Habitat build site can leave workers physically exhausted, this day is one of the most energizing days of the year for the Zunesis team.
When asked about Habitat’s partnership with Zunesis over the years, Heather Lafferty, CEO of Habitat Metro Denver, responded, “It is so exciting when we have a partnership that’s lasted as long as our partnership with Zunesis, when we can find a company that truly wants to invest in the community. We are, together, building something that’s bigger than either one of our organizations separately.”
This year’s family will be given the keys to their completed home at Zunesis’ annual benefit, the Night of Miracles, on November 14th.
