ZyDoc Chairman James M. Maisel, MD Chairs the Epidemiology and Prevention of Diabetes Section at the 5th World Congress of Diabetes 2017 in Prague, Czech Republic
Islandia, NY (PRWEB) July 28, 2017 -- James M. Maisel, MD, Chairman and CEO of ZyDoc, a New York-based medical informatics company, was honored to have chaired the Epidemiology and Prevention of Diabetes section at the 5th World Congress of Diabetes 2017, July 12-14, 2017 in Prague, Czech Republic. Maisel, who is also chairman of Retina Group of New York and recipient of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Humanitarian of the Year Award 2017, lectured on the topic of “Ocular Complications of Diabetes Mellitus and Laser, Surgery and Pharmacologic Treatment for Diabetic Retinopathy.” A second presentation delivered by Maisel at the conference explored “Using Natural Language Processing (NLP) to Identify and Manage Patient Populations at Risk for Diabetes and Diabetic Complications."
As a retinal specialist, Maisel works with patients to prevent and treat diabetic retinopathy and complications, through education and sight-saving pharmacologic treatment.
“I am delighted to have participated in the 5th World Congress of Diabetes as a section chair and presenter,” states Dr. Maisel. “We are beginning to understand the multifactorial complexity of ocular diabetic disease, but it remains one of the leading causes of blindness in the US in the 18-64 age group. Untangling the intricacy of cases that do not respond well to evidence based established treatment still requires extensive experience, analysis of multifactorial considerations and expertise in medical, laser and surgical treatment.”
The abstract of Dr. Maisel’s presentation, “Ocular Complications of Diabetes Mellitus and Laser, Surgery and Pharmacologic Treatment for Diabetic Retinopathy,” is available at rgony.com along with the presentation.
A second presentation by Dr. Maisel for the 5th World Congress of Diabetes focused on “Using Natural Language Processing (NLP) to Identify and Manage Patient Populations at Risk for Diabetes and Diabetic Complications.” ZyDoc's cloud based, NLP-driven medical intelligence platform, MediSapien, enables movement of unstructured text to EHRs, allowing doctors to dictate encounters and auto-insert section-level information. A specialized use of MediSapien is in the development of Pharma real-world evidence (RWE) applications. The abstract and presentation are available at http://www.zydoc.com.
