ZyDoc Chairman James Maisel to Present "Analytics for ACO Patient Management" at the AHIMA 85th Annual Convention Innovation Pavilion
Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) October 27, 2013 -- James Maisel, MD, Chairman of ZyDoc, an Islandia, NY-based medical informatics company, has been selected to present "Analytics for Accountable Care Organization (ACO) Patient Management," in the AHIMA 2013 Innovation Pavilion (Health Information Innovation Leadership Series). The ZyDoc kiosk, featuring a demonstration of the company’s MediSapien™ structured reporting application linked with Philips SpeechExec Enterprise voice productivity solutions, will be open during exhibit hours of the 85th Annual AHIMA Conference in Atlanta, beginning Sunday, October 27 from 5:30-7:30pm.
Dr. Maisel will also present an Informatics Educational Track lecture at the convention, "Unlocking the Content of Clinical Documentation for Enterprise-wide Knowledge Management" on Monday, October 28, 2013 from 4:30-5:30pm.
According to Maisel, "ACOs will require data and analytics to drive value-based medicine and manage patients and populations effectively. Over 60 percent of data is currently trapped as unstructured data in text, or as semi-structured data in the current generation of EHRs, which limits data mining. MediSapien allows this unstructured legacy data to be coded into the structured medical terminologies of the future: ICD-10, SNOMED-CT®, RxNorm and LOINC® codes, allowing unprecedented big data medical analytic reporting derived from Real World Data. Healthcare organizations can use the reporting for business and clinical purposes in addition to quality measures, research, and implementing strategies to lower costs and improve outcomes."
The Innovation Pavilion is the center of innovation at the 2013 AHIMA Annual Convention and Exhibit, held at the Georgia World Congress Center, Atlanta. Open during exhibit hall hours, the Pavilion features selected innovative professionals showcasing their products and services. The Pavilion, located in GWCC, A1/A2, is sponsored by McKesson, and includes a theater for presentations by selected participants Sunday through Wednesday, October 27 - October 30.
Maisel, a retinal specialist, recently presented research on "Using Unstructured Data Sources for Analytics in a Retinal Practice," at the 2013 American Society of Retina Specialists (ASRS) in Toronto; and will present two natural language processing (NLP) related talks at the upcoming Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) 99th Annual Meeting in Chicago. More information is available at http://www.zydoc.com regarding these presentations and ZyDoc’s upcoming exhibition at the American Academy of Ophthalmology Annual Meeting in New Orleans, November 16-19, 2013.
