San Diego, CA (PRWEB) June 27, 2014 -- AttorneyOne.com, a recognized authority on law, update the website daily regarding all the latest information from the FDA on safety alerts for mammograms.
The FDA issued a safety communication on June 23, regarding problems associated with mammograms taken at Big Sky Diagnostics Imaging, LLC in Butte, Montana. The FDA requires that all mammography centers follow certain baseline quality standards and are certified to legally operate in the United States.
FDA’s reason for the safety communication is that a routine review of a sample of mammograms performed by Big Sky Diagnostic Imaging revealed poor quality mammograms. The images were taken between November 20, 2011 and November 20, 2013. Big Sky Diagnostics Imaging, LLC did not meet the required standards and, since February 2014, this facility is no longer performing mammograms.
Taking into consideration the latest developments, AttorneyOne.com monitor daily and update the website providing accurate information on all relevant FDA safety alerts. Sean Burke, director of Media Relations at AttorneyOne.com, adds “we are determined to keep an eye on FDA announcements concerning mammograms and inform the public. For that reason", he continues, "our focus should squarely fall on investigating these safety alerts and getting the word out.”
The FDA advises the following for patients who had a mammogram at Big Sky Diagnostic Imaging, LLC any time after Nov. 19, 2011: “If you have had a mammogram at another MQSA-certified facility since then, you should follow the recommendations from that facility.” But “If you have not had a mammogram at another MQSA-certified facility since then, follow these guidelines: Talk with your current health care provider as soon as possible about the need for a follow-up exam. If your health care provider recommends you have another mammogram, it should be done at an MQSA-certified facility to ensure quality and accuracy. If your health insurance will not pay for a repeat mammogram, you can call the National Cancer Institute’s (NCI) information service” for a listing of MQSA-certified facilities that will provide free or low-cost mammograms.
