Bohemia, NY (PRWEB) October 16, 2013 -- fishbat, a leader in Internet marketing companies, comments on an October 10th article on Facebook’s blog regarding the elimination of the privacy option that gives users the ability to hide their profiles in the search.
According to Facebook’s blog post titled "Reminder: Finishing the Removal of an Old Search Setting," the option to hide a Facebook profile in public search will be phased out in a few weeks. Facebook Chief Privacy Officer Michael Richter notified the social network’s users Thursday on its blog. He cited Facebook’s previous privacy changes as justification for the latest privacy changes. "The setting was created was Facebook was a simple directory of profiles, and it was very limited."
Justin Maas, vice president of client relations at fishbat, a leader in Internet marketing companies, says that this won’t affect most people. "Facebook has multiple privacy options that people can use if they really want to hide information from the public," he says. "Not many people still use the feature that allows a user to hide their profile from being searched. Taking the feature out should not affect too many people. However, there are many ways people can tailor their profiles to hide pictures and specific information—even from Graph Search."
"Facebook has many privacy specifications that can be customized for however someone wants to use the social network," he says. "Then again, if you are on Facebook, but you don’t want to be found, what’s the point? Instead of hiding, people should begin using social media to showcase their strengths and highlight their achievements. However, if someone still wants to keep their profile super private, Facebook’s CPO also offered instructions to control the visibility of content shared throughout Facebook. There certainly still are other measures users can take to maintain a low profile."
