Former Senior Vice President of American Cancer Society Ed Lord Joins DonorDrive Social Fundraising
Cincinnati, Ohio (PRWEB) October 31, 2013 -- Ed Lord, former Senior Vice President for SA Business Development at the American Cancer Society, has joined DonorDrive Social Fundraising software as Vice President of Client Growth and Consulting. Ed started his career with the American Cancer Society shortly after graduation and rose through the ranks during his 25-year tenure. He is honored to have acquired his extensive experience working in so many capacities at one of America's most prestigious nonprofits: "I'm proud that I started at the bottom in the American Cancer Society and worked my way up."
Paul Ghiz, Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Global Cloud, makers of DonorDrive feels Ed will be a huge asset to nonprofits using DonorDrive. "Ed’s expertise will benefit every DonorDrive client’s fundraising program, regardless of their size.” In joining DonorDrive, Ed sees many possibilities for his skills and knowledge: "This position will enable me to help many different nonprofits by providing hands-on assistance with proven solutions that I’ve learned during my time with ACS.”
At the American Cancer Society Ed helped the organization raise over a billion dollars. Starting in the early 1990s he helped pioneer peer-to-peer fundraising and experiential events such as Making Strides Against Cancer and Relay for Life: "Relay was a brand new event in the early '90s, so we were figuring out what innovations to bring in, how to grow the event and how to have a managed rollout in every community across the country. We had to make sure that the event experience was the same for all of our participants and that they had the tools to do the fundraising. The challenge then—and continues to be—acquiring donors and retaining them." Today Relay for Life is the largest experiential nonprofit activity in the world, with events in over 5,700 communities across North America.
“I feel that DonorDrive offers more than just a fundraising tool, but provides a complete fundraising strategy that helps in acquiring and retaining donors. DonorDrive clients’ 34% growth in online revenue this year (first three quarters of 2013 compared to the same period in 2012) validates DonorDrive’s innovative approach to online fundraising."
