Johnson City Folk Festival in Unicoi, Tennessee Announces 2014 Dates - September 25-28; New 10,000 Seat Meadow Stage Added, Includes Story Telling Program, Guitar Clinics
Unicoi, Tennessee (PRWEB) December 31, 2013 -- The Johnson City Folk Festival has scheduled The 2014 Festival for September 25, 26, 27, 28 in Unicoi, Tennessee at The Farmhouse Gallery and Gardens. The Gallery and Gardens are located at 121 Covered Bridge Lane, Unicoi, Tennessee 37692
The dates were carefully selected after a review of potential weather and possible temperature issues – these careful reviews resulted from the previous year's unexpected cold spell, which brought unseasonably cold evenings and chilly days to the 2013 Festival.
The new dates are perfect for the addition of The Meadow Stage to the 2014 Festival and, as an added outdoor signature stage, weather will be critical to its success and smooth operation. This stage is located in The Great Meadow and can easily seat 5-10,000.
This year The Festival will include a Storytelling Program higher up in the Meadow in Fuller's Hollar, and presentation pieces and storytelling will be in the middle of a natural amphitheatre surrounded by The Cherokee National Forest. The sound quality, added to the resonance of the natural surroundings, is magical - it will enhance the human voices dramatically.
The Festival also plans a series of presentations by local and national lutheriers who will be on hand for guitar clinics, as well as consultations on any issues involving stringed instruments.
The Johnson City Folk Festival 2014 in Unicoi is pleased to announce that with the date changes the weather will be significantly warmer than the 2013 Season.
Festival organizers will try to partner with area music venues as a way to increase local and regional acts’ participation. The new venue and the new stages will provide the most exciting local showcase for homegrown musical acts, and a number of the headlining spots will be reserved for them on all stages.
The new late summer dates will keep the Pavilion Stage and The Blacksmith's Stage as the premier "intimate" performance areas. The Farmhouse Stage will be the large format indoor performance space, and the outdoor Meadow Stage will host the larger acts scheduled for Friday and Saturday.
Also new this season will be advanced ticketing by a national ticketing agency and advanced reservations for camping and vendor spaces. This will enhance turnaround times for ticketing as well as a significantly improved data-processing infrastructure with robust reporting and management capabilities.
Time and Pay of Johnson City will be returning as a Sponsor in 2014; Time and Pay was one of the earliest and strongest supporters of The Johnson City Folk Festival in Unicoi. The company was the first to provide assistance in 2011 when the Festival faced location challenges, and helped again at critical points in 2013.
The company has provided logistical support as well as valuable advice and direction at various points over the past few years.
The Hampton Inn will again be a main sponsor of the event and the Johnson City location will again be the preferred accommodations for the Festival staff and all out-of-town visitors. Free passes will be made available to all Hampton Inn guests during the Festival.
Insurance coverage for the Festival will be provided by Watauga Insurance of Johnson City again this year, and two beverage trailers will be selling a variety of cold beers. Non-alcoholic beverages will be available in The Festival Canteen during the 2014 Festival.
The addition of The Meadow Stage will provide for more acts as well, and the 2014 Season is currently accepting applications for 60-90 performance spots. All artists are compensated.
